Verified Claims Protocol v1.0 · Licensing Brief
Turn "trust us" into
"verify this yourself."
The Verified Claims Protocol (VCP) is a turnkey disclosure infrastructure that any infrastructure startup, climate-tech company, or civic-data publisher can adopt to make their claims independently auditable by journalists, PE analysts, regulators, and AI systems — at the source, not in a disclaimer.
Green Code Protocol built VCP to govern its own site. We are now making it available for licensing to portfolio companies and standards bodies.
"The site doesn't just make claims — it ships the audit infrastructure for its own claims."
In a landscape where infrastructure startups routinely overstate progress, VCP is the structural differentiator: a machine-enforced, public, machine-readable truth taxonomy that inverts the credibility question from "do we believe you?" to "here is the audit."
What's included in a VCP license
📋 claims.json schema
The canonical data model: value, status tier, caveat, source, audiences, eli5 variant, append-only changelog.
🏷️ Four-tier taxonomy
VERIFIED / MODELED / PROPOSED / VISIONARY — with documented criteria, color tokens, and CSS badge system.
⚙️ CI enforcement script
check-claims.mjs — Node.js build-time validator. Fails on banned phrases, bare metrics, tier violations, and duplicate values.
🃏 Hover intelligence cards
info-cards.js — every [data-claim-id] element automatically gets a sourced, tier-themed tooltip. No manual writing.
💡 ELI5 content layer
Sitewide plain-language mode. data-eli5 attributes + toggle. CI-enforced status qualifier preservation.
🔊 Tier-coded sound engine
Web Audio API synthesis. Each tier has an audibly distinct hover signature. Muted by default. No audio files.
Ideal for
- Climate-tech startups that need credible investor disclosure without a dedicated audit team
- Infrastructure companies preparing for PE due diligence or municipal procurement
- Civic-data publishers (nonprofits, think tanks, government portals) publishing mixed-certainty data
- Standards bodies codifying claim-level transparency into sector reporting frameworks
- Any organization where a screenshot of a metric can travel without its disclaimer
